Problem-Based English Learning for Practical Communication
Since 2008
In Brief
Art of Teaching
The art of teaching English begins with understanding each student’s unique needs and uncovering their talents to help them grow and succeed.
Why I teach with Problem-Based Learning
Problem-Based Learning turns lessons into purposeful projects. Students solve authentic challenges, learn the language they need to do it, and leave with skills that travel beyond the classroom. It keeps motivation high, builds fluency and critical thinking together.
About Me
I’m Martin, an English tutor using Problem-Based Learning to turn lessons into purposeful projects. I teach younger learners, teens, and adults with a focus on practical speaking/writing Teaching since 2008, I design differentiated learning paths while regularly reviewing textbooks to keep lessons up to date.
Making Learning Enjoyable
Problem-Based English Learning: 5 Benefits
Here, you will experience a different teaching style from typical schools, where time for critical and creative thinking is limited; my Problem-Based English Learning approach integrates lots of speaking practice with discussion, research, and writing in a holistic programme.
English Oracy
English oracy is the ability to use spoken language effectively, articulating ideas, listening actively, and engaging others with appropriate tone, register, and structure.
Learners speak with purpose: they discuss cases, question evidence, negotiate solutions, and present findings.
English Literacy
English literacy is the ability to read and write effectively in English, understanding and evaluating texts, and producing clear, well-structured writing with appropriate vocabulary, grammar and register.
Reading and writing serve real tasks. Students research from credible sources, synthesise ideas, and produce well-structured texts.
Differentiated Learning
Open-ended problems provide multiple entry points and varied pathways; so each learner progresses at a suitable level and pace.
Critical and Creative Thinking
Learners interrogate data, compare perspectives, generate options, and justify recommendations. They practise argumentation.
Learner Autonomy
Students plan their inquiry, monitor progress, and reflect on outcomes.
